Twelve young people set off on a journey into the unknown yesterday, accompanied by 3 wise women and 3 wise men! All the young people knew was that they would, in some way, be following in the footsteps of the Magi. They got their first clues as to their destination on arriving at Hartlepool station and boarding a train to Hexham. Forty-five minutes later, still guessing where they were going, they got off at Newcastle and crossed the road to the Cathedral.
As the Magi had done 2000 years earlier, the group then gathered round the crib to worship Jesus and offer him objects symbolising gifts they wished to give him- a coin representing leadership, a mobile phone representing prayer, a photograph album representing friendship and many more. Then, warned in a dream to avoid the local authorities, they returned to Hartlepool by another road that just happened to go past Burger King- where else would 3 Kings eat?
Many thanks to Fr. Marc for making us so welcome and leading us in our prayer.
