So here we are at the Youth Village. Not even 1 hour in and the students are throwing themselves into it with some partying. Watch this space for regular updates over the next 48 hours!

For the second year running people from each of the seven parishes across Hartlepool made their way through town and met at the War Memorial on Good Friday morning to listen to the Passion being read. Thanks once again to those from each church who joined us for this service, a very special way to share our faith with one another.

Today is the second day of the Pascal Triduum, the day which we call Good Friday. Today we recall the passion of Jesus through our readings, his crucifixion and death. The statues in our churches are covered and no candles are lit at all. At 3pm this afternoon when we begin the Good Friday service the churches will be in darkness. During the service today we also venerate the cross by kissing or touching the feet of Jesus.

So here we are as we enter into the Easter Triduum as we begin our journey recalling the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. Today is Maundy Thursday, the day in which we hear the gospel of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples at the last supper and the priest re-enacts this for us after the gospel. At the end of mass the blessed sacrament is taken to the altar of repose followed by adoration of the eucharist until late into the evening.

Last night St. Cuthbert's Youth Group went on an Africa adventure thanks to two of its members recently returned from the EMS Gambia trip. During the evening we tried our hand at tie-dying, ate carrot sandwiches- a local delicacy, and danced to African music. The evening was made all the more special as it was entirely planned and led by 4 of our older members. Well done Beth, Chelsie, Lauren and Emma!

This week the St. Cuthbert's Family Fun Club turned some boring old hard-boiled eggs into extravagant Easter creations! The kids had a great time with their parents getting creative and using their imaginations, helped by volunteers from the school and parish. The afternoon ended with us thinking about how Jesus died for us and a prayer around the cross.
